A bit of all
Yesterday and today we had presentations of thoughts around the program of our buildings in Nordhavnen. Everyone contributed with their thoughts on a given part of the basic program requirements or themes like sustainability, both in ecological and social sense. The class will collect our joint effort into a compendium that we all can share and work off our collective diagrams and written material.
I’m working myself with establishing my understanding of the site in its greater context to make sure I can make a contribution that takes on a conscious role in several scales. I’ve sorted some of the material made available at nordhavnen.dk for the competition and tried to find some points that are relevant to me on a single building level. The material presented in Excentral Park (EXP) reflects on a lot of the material already and I believe it is important to try to further strengthen some of those points. I will also keep in mind that the project will stay on a theoretical level. This will let me make some ideological points, being aware that their existence is made possible through the theoretical means of the assignment given.
A group of students also participated in a workshop with Marius Nygaard over the weekend. It was a brainstorm for round 2 of the competition in Nordhavnen. Bakgård has several photos from the work and also got linked from 70N‘s blog. Dahl&Uhre are also actively blogging about the projects progress.
I’ve decided to write on the topic of the diagram as a tool in contemporary architecture for my essay this semester and have started to read source material and taking notes for that. Other than that we have weekly tutorials in groups discussing the history of architectural theory. The discussions usually turn out to be a really nice arena for critique and discussion of how we see our future roles as architects.
This post still got quite long and full, so I’ll promise to hold off posting until I have some graphics to share.
Opening
In an attempt to get AndersSletbak.com up and going I’ve decided to make this temporary (for now at least) blog. The aim of the site will in time be to document my own work, both individual and in co-operation with others in a portfolio as well as a blog/news part. At the moment I don’t have time to set up a full site and get into how all of that will work so I figured that it will be easier to keep the blog active for now.
I’m a norwegian architecture-student at AHO in Norway after starting my education at UTS in Australia in 2007. Both sites include a little online gallery where some student work is available. The AHO Arena is currently updating with work from the last weeks Diploma project Exhibition.
I hope I’ll update the blog with content from my production as well as links to curiosities i come across. At the moment my class is doing our preliminary research for the semesters design assignment based on 70°N arkitektur‘s 1st Prize proposal for Nordhavnen development in Copenhagen, Denmark. I’ll try to update on the status of that as the assignment progresses.
That’s all for now, hope it’s gonna be many shorter, single-theme updates instead of this length from now on.
